IPOH: The pet dog of a police inspector’s fiancee was shot when his gun went off during a heated lovers quarrel at her home in Taman Merdeka here yesterday.
The 29-year-old officer, who is with the General Operations Force, had arrived at his fiancee’s house on his motorcycle between 6pm and 7pm. There was a quarrel, and during a struggle, he discharged the firearm, hitting her dog, said Perak police chief Razarudin Husain.Razarudin said the inspector was supposed to be on duty at the Immigration, Customs and Quarantine Complex in Wang Kelian, Perlis. He had gone missing on Friday and a police report was received a day after his disappearance.
The man was detained by a police patrol team shortly after the shooting, and the patrol policemen seized a firearm, bullets and the motorcycle, which belonged to the Royal Malaysia Police. Razarudin said that the officer had tested negative for drugs and did not have any previous criminal record.At a handing-over ceremony today, former Alor Gajah district police chief A Asmadi Abd Aziz received his posting as the new Ipoh district police chief today from deputy district police chief Supt Mohamad Nordin Abdullah, who had been acting in the position since Aug 9.
He replaced Mohd Ali Thamby who was appointed as GOF chief of staff in the Eastern Sabah Security Command.
