Prison authority says no members of the public will be allowed to enter its premise during this period. FMTNews Penang EMCO

Nineteen inmates in remand have been found to be infected with Covid-19, including one who died on Oct 5.

In a statement, the Prisons Department said the public would not be allowed visit inmates, while personnel could only enter after certain conditions were met. “Visitations by family members, lawyers and officials of embassies and non-governmental organisations are strictly prohibited,” it said. Bernama, quoting a local prison chief, reported that the other 18, aged 25 to 65, are in stable condition.
