KOTA KINABALU: All Malaysians will now be allowed into Sabah without the need to undergo the mandatory two-week quarantine, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

He said the state government had decided that Malaysians would no longer need to be quarantined and added that this applied to civil servants, private company workers or ordinary citizens arriving by air, sea or land.

Shafie however said that they would have to be certified free of Covid-19, with the test done three days before their arrival in Sabah from Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and Labuan. He added in a statement on Tuesday that a letter from the Health Ministry to validate the Covid-19 negative tests should be provided on entry.

Shafie also said Malaysians and foreigners working in Sabah would have to produce a valid work pass or other relevant documents. He said the move would encourage domestic tourism in Sabah, where hotels have begun opening since May 10.
