KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has not reported any new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours after a total of 320 tests were conducted, signs that the situation might be under control in the state.

However, Sabah Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said it was too early to say the situation was improving as they still had to complete testing on samples still in backlog."However, we still have samples yet to be tested. Until and unless we have completed all those samples yet to be tested, we cannot say that the threat is diminishing," she added. She said as of Sunday , they had checked 116,246 people and taken 6,295 samples.

She said that 90% of the cases in Sabah were related to the tabligh gathering at Masjid Jamek in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, with some 94 cases from Tawau, Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu. The number of cases remained at 197 in Sabah since Saturday amid concerns over the availability of Covid-19 testing reagents in Sabah.

"Availability of reagents is an issue that keeps cropping up. We hope to put in place additional sites for testing soon," Dr Rundi said. She said that a total of 692 people remained at 21 quarantine centres in the state with 5,243 people under home quarantine.
