N. Korea says US sub deployment may incur nuclear weapons use | The Malaysian Insight

With a US nuclear-armed submarine making a port call in South Korea, North Korea is warning Washington it could deploy nuclear weaponry to counter the vessel's presence. – EPA pic, July 20, 2023.

NORTH Korea’s Defence Minister Kang Sun-nam said today the current port visit of a US nuclear-armed submarine to South Korea “may fall under the conditions” for Pyongyang to use nuclear weapons. Relations between the two Koreas are at one of their lowest points, with diplomacy stalled and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un calling for increased weapons development, including tactical nuclear weapons.
