“Cancer patients are easily infected with Covid-19 because of immunity, which is the body’s defense and immune system which is weak, resulting in them needing to undergo frequent Covid-19 screening tests,”

QEH Deputy Director I Dr Yogendran Panchalingam said an information campaign and Cancer Day celebration are held every year so that relevant information is disseminated, especially the importance of early detection, prevention and treatment. “During the Covid-19 pandemic, most treatments and appointments for cancer patients had to be postponed, thereby contributing to increased cases after the pandemic.

The event, themed “Bridging the Cancer Care Gap” also saw a lecture session focused on the development and treatment methods of patients, especially colorectal cancer .
