Malaysian tower runner retains New York title

PETALING JAYA: . After the race, the 28-year-old skyscraper celebrity declared he wanted to further challenge the human limit in stair racing. “I want see how fast I can run up the stairs and set the benchmark for tower running.“Just like the Empire State Building that symbolises ambition and dominance, my victories so far have been a result of optimism and resilience,” he told FMT after the race.

It was Wai Ching’s third victory in a week after top finishes at the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles on Sept 30 and Seattle’s Space Needle tower on Oct 2. Today, he will scurry up the One Tampa City Center in Florida, hoping his wish of four straight wins for his 28th birthday on Sept 28 will be fulfilled.

Sabah’s oldest Stone church’s 134th jubilee | Daily Express Online - Sabah's Leading News PortalOldest historical stone church in Sabah, the St Michael and All Angels Church, here, recently celebrated its 134 anniversary.  The church materialised with the arrival of a S.P.G missionary, an English clergyman Reverend William Henry Elton on Sunday, 2nd September 1888.  The church which towered above Sandakan Town survived the ravages of World War II and later planted a daughter church some five miles away named The Church of the Good Shepherd.  Another daughter church was also built in the district some 13 miles away called St Thomas’ Church. Both churches are now self-supporting in terms of finance and manpower.  A thanksgiving dinner was held moderately on 28th September in St Michael and All Angels Church with the attendance of 600 members. Invited guests included priests with their respective spouses and Parochial Church Council (PCC) members from the three other Anglican churches in Sandakan to share the joy of Michaelmas.  After dinner, there was worship time with presentation from different age groups: Children Ministry, Youth Ministry, Choir, Women Fellowship, Sisters’ Fellowship and senior citizens.  St. Michael and All Angels Church celebrating its 134th jubilee. The celebration and thanksgiving dinner was made more significant with the presence of the Diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Sabah, Archbishop Datuk Melter Jiki Tais together with his wife Datin Angeline Wong.  In Melter’s sermon, he exhorted those present to continue to live up to their faith in gratitude and thanksgiving for the good gifts God had bestowed upon the church for the past 134 years and beyond
