SANDAKAN: Oldest historical stone church in Sabah, the St Michael and All Angels Church , here, recently celebrated its 134 anniversary. The church materialised with the arrival of a S.P.G missionary, an English clergyman Reverend William Henry Elton on Sunday, 2nd September 1888. The church which towered above Sandakan Town survived the ravages of World War II and later planted a daughter church some five miles away named The Church of the Good Shepherd.
