Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi dan Kementerian Kesihatan berkata, kerajaan sedang memuktamadkan rundingan dengan Covax, yang merupakan inisiatif di bawah WHO bagi memastikan akses kepada vaksin Covid-19. Menurut Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi dan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia dalam kenyataan bersama hari ini, keutamaan akan diberikan kepada petugas barisan hadapan meliputi sektor kesihatan dan keselamatan seperti doktor, jururawat, polis serta petugas penjara dan imigresen.
MOSTI dan KKM berkata, kerajaan juga sedang memuktamadkan rundingan dengan COVAX, iaitu inisiatif antarabangsa dipimpin Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia dan rakan-rakan untuk memastikan akses kepada vaksin Covid-19, yang mempunyai 9 calon di bawah Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunisation . Menurut kenyataan itu lagi, mesyuarat JKJAV yang dipengerusikan secara bersama Menteri Kesihatan Dr Adham Baba dan Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi Khairy Jamaluddin turut bersetuju membentuk 4 jawatankuasa kecil merentasi pelbagai kementerian dan agensi mengikut tugas tertentu.
