KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will not be the first country to declare a state of emergency over the Covid-19 pandemic, with almost 80 nations having it in place in some form.

Most recently was France, which declared a public health state of emergency on Oct 15, which gave officials greater powers to impose new measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.

A few days earlier, Spain declared a state of emergency in Madrid as Italy and Germany recorded over 4,000 and 5,000 daily cases respectively.

So? What is the need to make this normal?

Are u referring to the illegitimate state of israel ? Nice model, I see what u are doing there.

Why compare to a wrong yardstick? We have only less than 900 cases per day then need state of emergency means we lack of skill of controlling the spread better learn from Singapore no lockdown still can control so well. Canning will be a better disciplinary tool...go and use that

Well the other “country” was Israel so...😂

not the first means w shave to follow!!!!?

Why declare emergency over covid-19 if all well as you said unless you lied to the nation. Fake News? For all we know, Emergency is Emergency as there isn't a difference on what the authorities could do in a emergency with absolutely powers over country like dictatorship.

Media...some on la. Doesn't mean 80 other countries hd done it, it is OK 4 us 2 go into a state of Emergency. Remember GST? More than 140 countries hd done it..

Malaysia first country to declare PPBMofficial Parti Pintu Belakang Malaysia

But Why, when the Country had much higher cases, no emergency was declared and Covid was handled very efficiently. Why state of emergency now...?

But none country declare political emergency.... only in Malaysia

Yes. It’s not the first but in Msia’s context we do not need an emergency to curb COVID-19 spread. It’s senseless and it’s damaging to the economy of Msia.

The problem is it is not because of Covid. It is a political move by some incompetent politicians who wants to main their status quo.

ME: BRING MY DIET COKE!

Can’t say much about the quality of journalism nowadays.

Bullshit! We have ACT 342 to deal with infectious diseases what you need to declare state of emergency. Be honest! It’s because of uncertainty in politics so PM resorted this ! This shows his dictatorship and desperation! Shame of yourself!

Not being the first one to eat shit is still eating shit, no?

Not the first country governed by incompetents either. Why bother?

Alaaaa bodo la mo kasi banding² dgn negara yg mmg teruk gila

Why compare Their politicians same as ours No brainer! Even the blind knows this is a power driven move! Please stop comparing!

Lockdown is a better option for covid19

Maybe some country calls it emergency while others calls it lockdown or mco. Did these countries did both? And what are the numbers of cases they are having when declaring the emergency?

Janganlah nak dibandingkan kita dgn negara2 Europe yg jumlah kes harian mereka dlm lingkungan 20k - 50k sehari. Perbezaan yg ketara sekali.

Might be the first trying to skip the parliament meeting for budgets.
