KENINGAU: A culinary art student at Keningau Vocational College, Ivory Ivy Corvet Hadzlin, 17, emerged champion at the 2023 national-level KV Skills competition in the cooking category held at Seri Iskandar Vocational College, Perak.

The second and third placings went to Ester Prati Mili from Bintulu Vocational College and Alya Hazirah Mohamad Isa from Dato’ Undang Haji Muhamad Sharip Vocational College, respectively.The competition, organised by the Vocational Education and Technical Training Division of the Ministry of Education, held on Oct 13-18, was divided into 21 categories that tested the skills of Vocational College students who had won their respective State-level competitions in the field of their study.

Read more He said, Ivory Ivy represented the Sabah/Labuan in the cooking category when she was announced as the champion of the category during the zone level competition which took place on July 14-16.

“Each challenge requires them to prepare a certain dish. Three judges consisting of leading chefs evaluated the cooking results,” he said.Dr Sirhajwan said Keningau Vocational College represented Sabah/Labuan in three categories. Apart from cooking, two cosmetology students Shamsiah Dumandan and Maylisa Ivyina Telis competed in the beauty therapy category while Alvent Chin Kian Wen from automotive technology competed in the automotive category.

Director of Keningau Vocational College, Nordin Akup, who was also present during the prize presentation ceremony, expressed his pride in the success of the college team.
