”Saya beragama Islam jadi saya tidak sembahyang tetapi saya menghormati upacara ritual mereka di gereja,” kata beliau yang pernah mengikuti rakan sekolahnya masuk ke dalam gereja.Menurut Idris, populasi besar Kristian di Sarawak menggunakan perkataan ”Allah” bagi merujuk kepada Tuhan dalam kitab Bahasa Melayu dan Iban.
”Ramai orang Islam di Sabah mempunyai hubungan kekeluargaan dengan yang bukan Islam, isu kalimah ‘Allah’ bukan masalah di sini. Ia mungkin diperbesarkan oleh sesetengah pihak kerana pilihan raya umum semakin hampir.
