PETALING JAYA: Datuk Misbun Sidek’s charges can expect to smile again.

After being postponed for two years, the World Junior Championships is back on the radar as the Badminton World Federation have set new dates for the premier world junior event.

In the world body’s website yesterday, it was announced that the event will take place in Spain from Oct 17-30 next year. Misbun, who is the director of youth development under the Badminton Association of Malaysia has been struggling to give his junior players opportunities to compete in tournaments due to the Covid-19 limitations.

Some of his top juniors had been moved to the back-up squad without taking part in the world junior meet.There have not been any winners at the top junior level after Goh Jin Wei tasted victory in the girls’ singles event in 2018 and 2015.
