Osman Sapian submitted his resignation as Johor menteri besar effective last Monday.
JOHOR BAHRU: The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar this morning granted an audience to Osman Sapian, who resigned as the menteri besar on Monday. According to a posting and accompanying pictures of the audience held at Istana Pasir Pelangi on the sultan’s Facebook page, Osman informed the ruler of his resignation.Osman had said on Wednesday that he would explain his reasons for stepping down as menteri besar after his audience with Sultan Ibrahim.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had confirmed on Tuesday that Osman submitted his resignation effective the day earlier. Osman, 67, was the 16th Johor menteri besar and served the shortest period of less than 11 months after taking office on May 12 last year following Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the 14th general election.
