Johor Local Government, Urban Wellbeing and Environment Committee chairman Tan Chen Choon said he has directed the department to see if there is any connection to low dissolved oxygen levels responsible for today’s incident. The Jementah assemblyman said he was taking the matter seriously as this was the second time in days that dead fish were reported to have washed ashore along Lido Beach in front of Hospital Sultanah Aminah .

The preliminary findings concluded that weather and irregularities with the drainage system were likely responsible, with the latter possibly connected to reclamation works nearby.
