KUALA LUMPUR: The government needs to issue a clear circular or guidelines regarding the approval for teachers and Community Development Department (Kemas) staff to be involved in politics.

Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services president Datuk Adnan Mat said it was important to ensure there were no legal violations, including misuse of power, and to avoid the public making baseless allegations.

“Although civil servants are allowed to engage in politics, their priority must be their respective duties, and to provide the best service to Malaysians,” he said in a statement Sunday . He added that the contract status of Kemas employees makes them susceptible to threats or abuse if a change in power occurs or if they refuse to conduct political activities if ordered.

He claimed this had occurred before, involving Kemas staff who were accused of assisting previous governments.

Pocket Rocketman flies into Zii Jia issue | New Straits TimesOlympian keirin silver medallist Azizulhasni Awang has disclosed that he turned down numerous potentially lucrative offers to remain with the national track cycling programme in repaying Malaysia’s faith and support for him. Agreed with Rocketman. Yes, you are young and feel some arrogance of winning some tournaments like All England. But you are not world champion yet and mental strength is still medium, unlike Olympic champion like Axelsen. Different management different issues. Ya lah, that's why you didn't make it to the top. Winning a gold medal. Not equate your situation with Zii Jia. Patriotism wouldn't have attracted so many naturalised footballers to Malaysia. Did we question their patriotism when they joined us?
