The implementation of women-only coaches in the Putrajaya MRT line will begin this Monday, according to the CEO of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd., Amir Hamdan. This initiative aims to provide a safer and more comfortable journey for female passengers, who make up 60% of the total rail users. It is an extension of the women-only coach project in the Kajang MRT line, which was implemented last year. A total of 36 stations and 49 trains in the Putrajaya MRT line have been equipped with special pink stickers to identify the women-only coaches located in the middle section of each train. Since its introduction, the women-only coach initiative has received positive feedback from users, and data shows a decrease in reported cases of sexual harassment in the Kajang MRT line.

Selain itu, ia adalah kesinambungan daripada projek perintis koc wanita di MRT laluan Kajang yang dilaksanakan pada 18 Sept tahun lepas. “Sejak diperkenalkan, inisiatif koc wanita telah mendapat sambutan yang baik daripada pengguna dan data yang dicerap menunjukkan bilangan aduan berkaitan kes gangguan seksual di MRT laluan Kajang telah menurun daripada purata 3.2 kes kepada dua kes sebulan,” katanya pada sidang media di KL Sentral di sini hari ini.
