Menyingkap sejarah kemerdekaan pada 1957 dan sebagai persediaan untuk itu, beliau berkata, Suruhanjaya Reid ditugaskan untuk merangka Perlembagaan Persekutuan.
“Dipersetujui bahawa Malaya akan menjadi demokrasi yang mana rakyat akan memilih kerajaan. Raja akan menjadi ketua perlembagaan tanpa kuasa eksekutif.“Parti yang memenangi pilihan raya akan menamakan Perdana Menteri dan ketua perlembagaan akan mengesahkan,” katanya menerusi catatan di blog beliau, hari ini.
Sehubungan itu, Dr Mahathir mendakwa, perlembagaan Johor dan Terengganu yang diisytiharkan sebelumnya terbatal oleh perlembagaan baru yang diterima semua negeri di Malaysia. “Oleh itu pada 9 Mei 2018, rakyat Malaysia keluar mengundi untuk memilih kerajaan Malaysia dan kerajaan negeri,” katanya.
