GEORGE TOWN: The Gurney Plaza mall has dismissed rumours circulating on WhatsApp regarding the alleged lockdown of the mall, due to a suspected Covid-19 coronavirus case.

The mall's manager Peter Chan said the alleged rumours were fake and that the mall's business is ongoing as usual."Business goes on as usual here, and we have lodged a police report about the fake news," he said when contacted Friday .

The mall, through its Facebook page, earlier clarified that it is aware of the false rumours and is seeking legal advice on the matter. It urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary public alarm.Out of the figure, 13 are China nationals while six are Malaysians.
