MCA's Bukit Gelugor parliamentary candidate Wong Chin Chong said there were many households in the constituency with elderly folks.“Elderly centres operated by trained medical workers will help such households,” he added.
Wong will be up against Pakatan Harapan's Ramkarpal Singh and Perikatan Nasional's P. Thinagaranabhan for the Bukit Gelugor seat. He said the elderly centres would complement Padu, an acronym for Barisan's manifesto for the 15th General Election. The manifesto promises to enact an Elderly Care Act to improve the function and capabilities of NGOs that handle care for the elderly with an improved budget. It promises to introduce the Assistive Basic Income to ensure households earn at least RM2,208 a month. This will make absolute poverty a thing of the past.
To protect the environment, Padu pledges to do away with approved permits for electric vehicles to ensure complete access to environmentally friendly cars that are also affordable.“Give Padu a chance so that it can be a guide for the country over the next five years. Padu leaves out no one,” Wong said.“We will make the expenditure available for the public to scrutinise,” he added.
