SIBU: The Magistrate's Court here sentenced four people to two months' imprisonment each on Friday (March 27) after they pleaded guilty to not adhering to the movement control order (MCO) implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19.

They had committed the offence on Thursday at different locations, contravening Regulation 7 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020.All of them had failed to provide good reason why they were still outside after 10pm when caught by the police.

The accused were Nelson Goh Kai Chee, 23, Alkiam Abai, 40, Mathew Menie, 31 of Sungai Salim and an 18-year-old. Goh, Alkiam, and Mathew were also fined RM2,000 in default one month's jail under Regulation 25 of the National Registration Regulation 1990 for failing to produce their identity card when asked to do so by the police at the time of the offence.
