JOHOR BARU: The flood situation is improving in Johor with only three districts still flooded namely Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi and Segamat.

The number of flood victims also declined to 976 people from 271 families at 8pm compared to 995 victims from 276 families as of 4pm on Wednesday .

“Two temporary relief centres were closed at 8pm bringing the total number of operating centres to 10 from 12 as of 4pm," the state Disaster Management Committee said in a statement. The current water level at Sungai Batu Pahat in Bekok, Batu Pahat is now at 18.72m above the 18.70m dangerous level while Sungai Endau in Mersing at 1.94m .Two roads remain closed for all vehicles – Jalan Tanah Abang in Mersing and Jalan Sungai Tiram-Ulu Tebrau in Kulai.

“The roads are closed due to rising water level in Jalan Tanah Abang and landslides at Jalan Sungai Tebrau-Ulu Tiram,’’ said the statement.
