JOHOR BARU: The flood situation in Johor is improving with the number of victims seeking shelter at the temporary relief centres (PPS) declining in the past 24 hours.

There are 2,138 people from 602 families at 22 centres as of 8am on Tuesday compared with 2,757 victims from 774 families at 8am on Monday .

It said the four districts still affected by floods are Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi, Mersing and Segamat. “There are 344 people from 87 families at five PPS in Kota Tinggi and 92 victims from 28 families at four centres in Segamat,’’ the statement added.The river is Sungai Endau in Mersing with 2.38m presently above the 2.20m dangerous level; Sungai Muar in Buloh Kasap, Segamat at 8.87m warning levels ; Sungai Batu Pahat in Bekok at 18.56m and Sungai Batu Pahat in Sembrong at 11.01m .
