Mersing fire station chief Abdul Muiz Mokhtar said the car was found about 15m from the last spot where the victim was reported missing.
"Our men found the car at 6.55pm but the 24-year victim, identified as Tansharon, a Sarawakian, was not in the car," he said in a statement. Abdul Muiz added the victim’s car had plunged into a 20ft ravine after it skidded into the road shoulder. He said eight firefighters from Mersing, three from Endau and five from Skudai fire stations respectively were involved in the search and rescue operation.
