The crackdown on local supporters of Tamil militant group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam continued on Saturday with the arrest of five more people.
Federal Special Branch counter-terrorism’s principal assistant director DCP Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said yesterday that five suspects including a 52-year-old teacher and a executive officer were among those held in Durian Tunggal, Malacca, Banting, Selangor and Bukit Mertajam, Penang. He said all five men were suspected to be involved in the promotion, fundraising and recruitment for the LTTE.
He said the suspects who are aged between 26 and 52 are being held under laws of the Sosma and can be detained up to 28 days.On Thursday, seven people including two assemblymen were nabbed by federal police.
