"We raided premises in Puchong Prima and identified several pieces of evidence that linked them to fake loan activities.
"Seven men and nine women were arrested during the raid. We are still identifying the syndicate and suspects kept mum when we questioned them," he said in a press conference Sunday at the district police headquarters here. Investigations showed that the group would offer small loans of between RM200 to RM1,000 to victims and charge them fees. Victims will still be charged fees even when no money changed hands.
"We believe they have been active for around four months. The suspects have been remanded until Tuesday ," he said.In an unrelated matter, police are still identifying if the husband of a murder suspect was involved in the murder of their neighbour. "The specialist conducting the post-mortem examination found that the cause of death did not match the injuries on the body and have determined that a blunt weapon was used.On March 9, the victim's husband lodged a report after his wife went missing.The motive of the murder is believed to be over debts accrued by the suspect.
