PUTRAJAYA: Another 83 people in Malaysia have succumbed to the coronavirus, the Health Ministry announced.

In his daily Covid-19 statement on Wednesday , Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported that Malaysia’s death toll has now reached 4,637.Other states and territories that reported Covid-19 deaths are Kuala Lumpur , Johor , Sabah , Negri Sembilan , Kelantan , Sarawak , Labuan , Perak , Kedah , Melaka and Perlis .The youngest casualty is a 26-year-old man who died at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang. He had a history of high blood pressure and dyslipidemia.

Seven cases have been classified as “brought in dead” of which three were in Selangor, two in Sabah, one in Kedah and one in Kelantan. The number of patients in intensive care units remained high at 879 cases, with 433 on ventilator support. Active cases – which is the number of Covid-19 patients under treatment or observation – have gone down to 60,816.
