PETALING JAYA: The police have started investigations into the leaked investigation report against former attorney general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas following the publication of his memoirs.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin, in a statement Thursday , said that investigations were opened after the report was leaked on an online blog,She added that the investigations will be conducted by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department's Special Investigation Unit .

"Investigations will be conducted under Section Eight of the Official Secrets Act 1972, Section 203A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 ," said DCP Noorsiah. Early last year, the book received a lot of criticism from various quarters, including the Attorney General's Chambers, lawyers, politicians and the public for allegedly containing elements of incitement, insult and slander right after it was published.

The special task force comprised former Sabah secretary Datuk Hashim Paijan and former women, family and community development ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Junaidah Kamaruddin, who is also former director-general of its legal affairs division. Other members are former judge and former senior federal counsel Datuk Jagjit Singh Bant Singh, lawyers Datuk Shaharudin Ali and Balaguru Karupiah, as well as representatives from the Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre and the Chief Government Security Office .
