PETALING JAYA: Shevon Lai Jemie is on a mission to propel Ampang Jaya BC to a maiden Purple League title.

Yesterday, the national mixed doubles shuttler combined with regular partner Goh Soon Huat to help Ampang reach the semi-finals by beating Singapore Badminton Team 13-6.

Soon Huat-Shevon were in their element when they swept aside Singapore’s 11-9, 11-6, 11-5 Donovan Wee-Ho Lo Ee. The others who won their matches for Ampang were Goh Jin Wei , Indonesia’s Moh Reza Isfahani-Sabar Gutama , and Taiwan’s Chou Tien-chen . Jin Wei had to fight tooth and nail against Megan Lee before prevailing 9-11, 11-3, 9-11, 11-4, 11-2.Tien-chen wrapped up the tie with a 11-8, 11-9, 11-3 victory over Lim Ming Hong.“We don’t want to stop here and want to help our team finally win the title this year,” said Shevon.Puchong boast the likes of world No. 9 men’s doubles pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi and veteran men’s singles player Liew Daren in their ranks.“Puchong are a strong team on paper.
