PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 121 persons for not complying with orders under the recovery movement control order (MCO), including home quarantine.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said action was taken against these individuals during operations by the taskforce monitoring compliance with standard operating procedures on Wednesday .Other offences include operating businesses beyond permitted hours, failure to observe social distancing and online gambling activities.

“Of the 121 arrested, police remanded 32, released two on bail and 87 people were issued with compounds. “Authorities will continue to check for compliance, including the use of face masks by the people at crowded public places, ” he said. The taskforce also conducted 65,911 checks on Wednesday at various premises including government offices, banks, and places of worship.

Ismail Sabri said complaints about the low quality of food served at quarantine stations has been brought to the National Disaster Management Agency’s attention and the matter has been rectified.
