JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested four members of a drug syndicate that has been operating since last April.

State police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said two suspects - a 21-year-old local man and 24-year-old local woman were nabbed on Wednesday at around 3.30pm in an operation dubbed Operasi Khas.

Comm Ayob said the gated and guarded unit overlooking the Straits of Johor had been used to store drugs from Thailand for local consumption.Following the arrests, Comm Ayob said police raided another unit located in the same condominium and a house in the Perling area. "We seized heroin and syabu from the two suspects, who were also tested positive for cannabis and have previous criminal records.

Comm Ayob said 34.66kg of syabu, worth RM1.247mil, and 47.54kg of heroin, valued at RM558, 663.70, were seized during the raids.
