KUALA LUMPUR: Former national No. 1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei is keeping close tabs on the players in action at the World Championships in Basel – from the comfort of his home.

“I used to be the one fighting for honours but now, I’m watching other Malaysians in action from here, ” said Chong Wei.

There are a few regular faces like Momota, Lin Dan and Chen Long of China, Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark, Chen Chou-tien of Taiwan and K. Srikanth of India but a few youngsters, including Jonatan Christie, Anthony Ginting of Indonesia and Anders Antonsen of Denmark are making their presence felt. “Fans always wanted a match-up between Lin Dan and I but now, the men’s singles title can be anybody’s game. It’s hard to predict. Lin Dan is struggling too, ” said Chong Wei.Chong Wei hoped his former teammates would end the elusive chase for a world title although he knows it would be tough.
