Sessions Court Judge Rozina Ayob rules that the four should apply for bail at the High Court as it is ‘speedier’ in the higher court. FMTNews LTTE Sosma

The four men have been detained under a security law for allegedly supporting the defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

The four are A Kalaimughilan, who was represented by Yoges M Verasuntharam; V Suresh Kumar and DAP assemblymen M Gunasekaran, who were represented by Ramkarpal Singh; and businessman B Subramaniam, who was represented by S Selvam. Deputy public prosecutor Aslinda Ahad, who appeared with another DPP, Azlina Rasdi, for the prosecution told the court that the four should apply for bail at the High Court. Aslinda also said bail should only be given when a defendant was extremely ill.

“In fairness of justice for all parties, the court allows the case to be transferred to the High Court and bail application to be heard there. It’s speedier if it is heard before a High Court judge.”
