As if the threat posed by e-hailing services is not enough, taxi drivers and operators have been pushed further into the doldrums with the enforcement of the movement control order .Meanwhile, operators fear they could go under as they earn little to no revenue during this period. Taxi drivers’ alliance Gabungan Teksi SeMalaysia president Kamarudin Mohd Hussain said at present, up to 95% of taxi drivers nationwide have stopped driving completely.

The remaining few drivers who are still driving to keep afloat are struggling to cover their operating costs, he said.
