PORT DICKSON: The 29-year-old Belarusian who was caught trying to walk here from Sepang, Selangor, has claimed trial to a charge of violating the conditional movement control order (MCO).

Danilov Illia also claimed trial at the Magistrate's Court here to a charge of insulting behaviour, which he had allegedly committed at around 2.10pm on May 31 at a police roadblock at KM26 of Jalan Lukut-Sepang near here.

For the first offence, he was charged under Rule 6 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020.For the second offence, he was charged with an offence under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which provides a maximim fine of RM100 if found guilty. Based on the facts of the case, policemen had mounted a roadblock along Jalan Lukut-Sepang and stopped Illia when he tried to walk past them.

When asked for a police permit, the accused failed to produce one, and he was subsequently issued a compound.Illia allegedly became aggressive and began shouting expletives at the policemen and was then arrested. Magistrate Siti Huzaifah Abu Talib refused to grant bail to the accused and fixed June 12 for re-mention.
