Ujian saringan itu dijalankan berikutan terdapat kes positif Covid-19 dalam kalangan penjaga dan kakitangan di Pusat Pemuliharaan Orangutan Sepilok, Sandakan dan Taman Hidupan Liar Lok Kawi, Putatan.

KOTA KINABALU: Sebanyak 30 Orangutan disahkan negatif Covid-19 menerusi ujian saringan yang dijalankan di dua pusat pemuliharaan Orangutan di Sabah, baru-baru ini.

“Sekiranya ada sebarang gejala dalam kalangan Orangutan, ujian saringan secara berjadual akan dilakukan,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan semalam.Menurutnya, ini kali pertama ujian RTK-Antigen Covid-19 membabitkan Orangutan dilakukan di Malaysia. Sementara itu, Penolong Pengarah dan Doktor Veterinar JHL Sabah, Dr. Sen Nathan berkata, saringan ini dilakukan berikutan peningkatan jumlah kes harian Covid-19 di Sabah yang melonjak naik sejak beberapa bulan kebelakangan ini.
