10 pendaki maut runtuhan salji di India

Lapan lagi pendaki berjaya diselamatkan serta usaha mencari dan menyelamat dijalankan bagi mengesan pendaki lain yang terperangkap di puncak gunung Danda-2 Draupadi.

Kesemua pendaki merupakan sebahagian daripada kumpulan 28 pelatih dari sekolah mendaki gunung di daerah Uttarkashi. Pengarah Pusat Operasi Kecemasan Negeri, Piyoosh Rautela berkata, salji yang masih turun dan kebolehcapaian menjadi cabaran utama usaha mencari dan menjejak mangsa lain. Ini kerana, katanya, penyelamat terpaksa mengambil masa selama dua hari dari Bhatwari sebelum melalui Tela dan Hutan Chatti untuk sampai ke sana.

Menteri Pertahanan India, Rajnath Singh menzahirkan kesedihan atas kehilangan nyawa peserta ekspedisi yang dianjurkan oleh Institut Pendakian Gunung Nehru di Uttarkashi.-AGENSI
