“I am sick to f**king death of being spoken down to by men across the globe” - the star opened up about her experiences of homophobia following the ill-fated trip. XFactor

X Factor star Lucy Spraggan cut her holiday to Malta short after dealing with horrific, homophobic comments. She went to Malta with the woman she is currently dating having heard “it was so LGBT friendly and progressive.”“First day we arrived we realised we’d landed in the wrong part of town," the singer said.

“Every other bar was a ‘gentlemen’s club’ and it was clearly a party destination, and everywhere we went someone shouted ‘lesbians’ at us” “We went to a restaurant in Valletta where the waiter said: ‘the way you girls are sitting is so sexy, you are making us all hard’." The musician and her partner were left astounded, laughing in disbelief and politely asking for the bill.“To diffuse the situation I said: ‘we have more to discover here’," Lucy said, "to which he said: ‘how about I discover her with you’.”However, when they arrived at the new hotel, they realised their balcony door didn’t lock and the couple ended up in a half hour dispute with reception to sort a new room with more security, Lucy shared.

When the couple went out again for ice cream, she said that men started harassing the pair, making crass hand gestures and shouting at them.Speaking of the unfortunate trip, Lucy said: “I am sick to f**king death of feeling threatened as a woman. Sick to f**king death of feeling threatened as a lesbian.“Malta was beautiful, but the experience was not."
