The Government is blaming Brexit for what is being described as the worst Budget for working people in years.
There will also be €200 million made available to government departments to increase staffing levels and upgrade airports and ports. “In preparing for no deal we can ensure the Government has the necessary resources to meet the impact of Brexit, keeping our public finances on the credible path they have been on since 2011.
“It marks a necessary step in our response to climate change while conscious of the needs and difficulties that this step creates.Unlike previous Fianna finance spokesman Michael McGrath did not criticise the Budget but he made it clear it would be the last one his party facilitates. He said: “Fianna Fail has afforded the Government the time and space to focus on delivering the best possible Brexit outcome for Ireland,” he said.
