Martin has described the situation as 'not satisfactory' and has sought a meeting with RTE Chair Siún Ní Raghallaigh to discuss the matter

Minister for Media Catherine Martin has said she is “deeply disappointed” after it was made known to her that an exit package for former Chief Financial Officer Richard Collins was approved by the RTÉ board.

READ MORE: Kevin Bakhurst warns against 'high expectations' that former RTE execs will agree to reveal exit packages Bakhurst warned of high expectations such clauses would be waived, however, as the decision to do so would be entirely up to the individuals involved.“I don't want the expectations to be very high because that is entirely their gift to waive their confidentiality.

It was put to Mr Bakhurst that if Mr Coveney received statutory redundancy, his exit package would have been less than €20,000.“That's not what I intended at the time. What I meant was, you know, the statutory levels, as I understood it, was you will get a week for every year. Rory had been here 16 years.”
