The Huntstown power station in Dublin is a major contributor to the grid at 7.5%

The move comes in the wake of warnings from the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities that there were challenges to the security of energy supply.Huntstown has a capacity of 400MW.Eirgid also said work was ongoing to ensure Whitegate was back in action shortly.

Eirgrid had previously said that even with Huntstown and Whitegate back, the system would remain "tight" this Winter. https://t.co/VLFBP4gHc7 — Sandra Hurley October 24, 2021 The Sunday Independent newspaper reported that ministers have been told that power cuts cannot be ruled out over the winter in the face of energy supply issues. If there are supply shortages, the first step would be cutting back the usage of large business users, such as data centres. For domestic supply to be restricted, several issues would have to occur at the same time, including no wind, generator failure and issues with the interconnector to the UK.

Won’t build nuclear power but take nuclear power frost UK & France in a few years. No LPG storage but will take from other countries storage. We need LPG storage now but for the future as all this hydrogen will have to be stored somewhere. But wait for the objections.

That’ll just go to power the data centres

Both Huntstown and Whitegate are gas powered...One third of our gas comes from Corrib field....While at same time we have ban on gas exploration and no LNG terminal to store gas we could buy from Qatar... We depend on the UK for heating and electricity this winter....

Rent trap: I’m leaving Dublin as my homeowning dreams will never be realisedWe asked renters if they thought they could ever buy a home in Ireland. Here’s what they said This is the future for my generation. It’s nearly impossible to purchase a house unless your family already has a fair bit of money. €800 rent in Dublin sounds cheap. Most major cities are too expensive to live in. London, New York, Sydney, San Francisco all make Dublin look like a steal - a fact often missed by folk in Dublin Homeownership seems to be a deluded entitlement in Ireland.

Licensing system proposed for Dublin city soup runsThe report, carried out for the Dublin Region Homeless Executive, found there are 16 to 20 groups operating soup runs and it criticised the authorities for not protecting the general public or the homeless population Authorities only care for themselves Set up soup kitchens...again. Really ? Why does the general public need protecting from soup runs ? , being walking over homeless bodies in the early am for years in DCC . Seems to me the DRHE are f€&€ clueless on how to deal with the issue so attack those volunteers who try give some dignity to the lost.
