EDMONTON — As federal cabinet members held an emergency meeting in Ottawa Monday to discuss protests that have brought parts of Canada’s railway to a halt, the heads of policing associations defended their hands-off approach and said they’re hoping for a political solution.
“I understand how worrisome this is for so many Canadians and difficult for many people and families across the country,” Trudeau said. “We’re going to continue to focus on resolving the situation quickly and peacefully, and that’s what we’re going to do.” While officers in some parts of the country have enforced court orders and removed protesters blocking access to ports in Vancouver and Delta, police in Ontario have not cleared out the Belleville blockade in Tyendinaga Township, near Mohawk territory. That protest is along a major freight and Via Rail corridor. CN cancelled all freight traffic in its eastern Canada network last week, and Via Rail, which runs on CN tracks, cancelled most of its passenger trips.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford spoke with Trudeau late Sunday and issued a statement saying the government must “provide detail on a clear plan to ensure an end to this national issue.” Among its recommendations: “There should be a buffer between the Incident Commander and politicians whether from the federal, provincial or local orders of government.”
Broadly speaking, said Stamatakis, police take direction from politicians because they enforce the law politicians create. But politicians should not get involved in the specifics of an operation, he said.
you either have laws or you do not, right now I am getting the message from Castro that its every one for themselves.
Nonsense, the rcmp is just enforcing a court order. It’s up to the protestors if it is done forcibly or peacefully
Its either there is a law or none! You can never be too nice to law breakers otherwise just join them if you can’t hrow balls like justin!
It’s obviously too lax because the rest of us would already be in jail. Watch me block a rail crossing and illegally fuck with the rail line and crossing controls and see what happens!
What a joke .
Heads I win tails you lose
Why not build it outside the border of their land. That should solve the issue of it going thru their land. Remove housing that is close to it.

Well looks like no pipeline, if the FN can’t all get together in that area and all agree, guess scrap it, only creating more racism, division in Canada .
It shouldn’t be that complex. Either our laws are followed or not.
they just look like ordinary whores
Subject them all to a blood test! That’s fair ! One each! Nobody gets two blood tests . This is a democracy after all!
Native Ancestors made BAD DECISIONS MANY MANY YEARS AGO!! My Generation and Generations that follow should NOT have to continue to pay for this nonsense!! Remove Reserves and integrate them into Canadian Society. Time for them to PAY THEIR WAY!! EndTheFreeRideForNatives
Bring in the Armed Forces!! Let them get rid of these CLOWNS!! The same CLOWNS who do NOT recognize Canadian Law but have NO problem taking FREE HAND OUTS FROM THE CANADIAN GOV’T. REAL CANADIAN TAXPAYERS ARE TIRED OF GETTING SCREWED!! EndTheFreeRideForNatives
Too agressive?
That's the point you incompetent fools
Unfortunately it is probably going to come down to something bad happening. There is a chance that out east severe suffering or worse could happen. Civil unrest is also a strong possibility. A small few will not stop the greater good.
I’m afraid the job of policing seldom entails “winning.” At least, that’s not the goal.
When will these protesters be considered terrorists? PM Trudeau better act very SOON. Shutting down the railroads, bridges, roads, government offices, etc. is against the law. This situation is quickly turning ugly.
The police are breaking the law by taking orders from the govt and not enforcing the law. How about some charges for the police brass who are supporting lawlessness?
Just like Trudeau and his government, they are doing nothing.
Listen to the majority.
Mmmmmm no I’d say they are losing. Bigly. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻🤬🤯🤬🤯 blockades RCMP OPP
Remember folks, they are sovereign, but need everyone else to provide water, education and healthcare.
