Del Duca sits firmly in second place in most polls at the end of the first week of the 2022 Ontario election campaign

At the end of the first week of the 2022 Ontario election campaign, he now sits firmly in second place in most polls, pitching a platform that has garnered plenty of attention for commitments such as cutting the HST from prepared foods, banning all handguns, resurrecting an optional Grade 13 and offering one-dollar transit rides to persuade people to start re-using public transport, post-pandemic.

One of Del Duca’s main criticisms of Ford is that his government has lacked ambition. No-one will ever level that charge at the Liberals. The platform is a sprawling document that by year four of a new government commits to an additional $15 billion a year in spending.Article content Like all other governments, Del Duca also claims he will raise billions from a “procurement efficiency strategy” and that he will somehow reopen the childcare agreement the province has just signed with the federal government to save an extra $2 billion.Article content

“Governing is about choices. They could easily have said ‘because we budgeted that $1.3 billion, we’re going to invest it anyway’ in better ventilation or more teachers to shrink class sizes or bring back optional Grade 13. We’re making a different choice,” said Del Duca. “I was elected in September 2012, and the Northlander decision came down before that. I could have said that in the debate but that’s the kind of thing that almost feels like a cop-out,” he said. “I think we’re in a place now where leaders who are confident enough, and humble enough, should be able to admit when decisions were made were not ideal decisions.”Article content

The economy is breaking Canadian families. Citizens cannot afford to survive. Canada’s contribution to carbon reduction through tax is another attack on citizens fight to survive. We are victims of greed. Has Mr Trudeau sold us out?

Good grief Ivison is a self proclaimed expert on everything!

So now with out a doubt I know the national posts works for Trudeau. I have some advice for Steven... buy hydro stocks.

Channeling McGuinty.

when mpp he was minister of transportation and had the 427 expanded into his own riding , now campaigning against new highways in the GTA , such an odd reversal of opinion , such an odd choice for liberal leader
