Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca promises $1-billion over two years for hospitals to operate ‘significantly’ above pre-pandemic volumes

Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca says the COVID-19 pandemic has put an incredible strain on health-care services and health-care professionals.

He says a Liberal government would put the additional funding into allowing hospitals to operate “significantly” above pre-pandemic volumes and expand operating room and diagnostic procedures into evenings and weekends. The Ontario Medical Association estimated last fall that the pandemic had created a backlog of 20 million health-care services including doctors’ visits, diagnostic tests, treatments and surgeries. The Liberals say they will also help create not-for-profit surgery centres managed by local hospitals to manage higher surgical volumes.

Ontario Liberals would draw from contingency funds to pay for promisesTORONTO - A Liberal government in Ontario would count on a renegotiated federal child-care deal and “efficiencies” in procurement to pay for promises ... Of course. Spend, spend, spend until you’re broke. It’s the socialist-liberal way… 🖕 The single biggest source of savings in Del Duca's plan is $1.15Bn/yr from 'procurement efficiency'. The ON gov't already has big procurement initiatives, in health care and overall. Public servants aren't going to get $1Bn smarter just because Liberals get elected. Rob Peter to pay Paul.
