The fountains of Concorde plaza are empty in Paris, France, as Europe is under an extreme heat wave, Aug. 3, 2022. French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne warned Friday that France is facing the "most severe drought" ever recorded in the country and announced the activation of a government crisis unit.

"The exceptional drought we are currently experiencing is depriving many municipalities of water and is a tragedy for our farmers, our ecosystems and biodiversity," she said in a statement.Weather forecasts suggest that the heat, which increases evaporation and water needs, could continue for the next 15 days, possibly making the situation even more worrying, the statement stressed.

It will also monitor the impact of the drought on France's energy production, transport infrastructure and agriculture.

First-hand accounts of long ER waitsOttawa patients share their stories as some officials say the strain could go on for years. CTV's Dave Charbonneau has more. This has been going on for years this has NOTHING to do with Covid. If just some of the billions poured into this pandemic was funnelled where it was really needed the hospitals we would be far better off now. But instead it was WASTED everyone voted 2 weeks ago. Liberal Bias CTV. Funny how the government didn’t step in to help hospitals expand so they could handle the huge strain of Covid cases. Instead they just blamed the unvaxxed for straining the healthcare system. 🤔
