An attack levied by the Liberals recently about the lobbying activities of one of Pierre Poilievre’s top advisers has “some potential” to be of use to the struggling government, however, it doesn’t solve their “fundamental problem” that Canadians associate them with the cost of living crisis, says pollster Greg Lyle. ' The source said Byrne is not universally liked within the Conservative caucus, and that there is “still a lot of bad blood from previous elections that she had a handle in,” which has accumulated over a series of campaigns, including the party's 2011 victory and 2015 defeat—in which Byrne was a key player—as well as the 2019 and 2021 campaigns when she was operating from outside the party.
