Conservatives, NDP call for emergency meeting to study allegations of political interference in Norman case (subscribers) janicedickson cdnpoli

The MPs write that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “prejudiced the conduct of this matter by inappropriately anticipating that the RCMP’s investigation would result in a prosecution," referring to comments Mr. Trudeau made before Vice-Adm. Norman was charged.

It says that it is also clear, “that the government tried to politically interfere in a shipbuilding contract. When this came to light he reacted by smearing the reputation of a highly respected naval officer. This has had a deleterious effect on the morale of the Canadian Armed Forces.” Vice-Adm. Norman was suspended as the military’s second-in-command on Jan. 16, 2017, and charged with breach of trust last year for allegedly leaking government secrets in an attempt to influence cabinet’s decision in a review of a $668-million contract with Quebec’s Davie shipyard for a supply vessel. He denied any wrongdoing.

The members would also like to hear from Justice Minister David Lametti, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Service and Procurement Carla Qualtrough, former minister of public services and procurement Judy Foote, the prime minister’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, his former principal secretary Gerald Butts, Liberal MP Andrew Leslie, and director of policy for minister of democratic institutions James Cudmore.

Green Party win in Nanaimo by-election suggests trouble for Liberals, NDP, pollster Nik Nanos says‘It shows that the Green Party brand is on the political menu for Canadians’ he said. Bye...bye Trudeau 😂😂😂 terrific ... I guess we'll have to get used to saying 'Prime Minister Andrew Scheer' ... [gag] You will need to better define the scope of this 'trouble'. The Green party is leagues away from serious contention, it does signal that environmental policies will need to be more of a focus for the remaining groups though.

How much should Scheer’s Conservatives be counting on vote-splitting on the centre left?Even before this week, Conservatives were wondering aloud if the Green Party – coming off a string of seat pickups by its provincial cousins – might be as useful as the NDP in providing an alternative for voters who cast ballots for the Liberals in 2015 If they really wanted that, he would knock off the ridiculous rhetoric he keeps belching into the airwaves & online about Trudeau & he would ditch the white supremacists until after the election. However, he is an ass so not much odds at that happening soon. The left will go NDP or Green; right will shift to the Cons. The centre will hopefully be smart enough to realize the Greens are further left than NDP (GND socialism pkg) & will either stay Liberal or shift Cons, IF AndrewScheer has a climate plan & purged human rights issues. If Trudeau wins after SNC, the Norman scandal, multiple Obstruction of Justice crimes, smearing of innocent women (Raybould and Phillpot) and a litany of broken promises, then Canadians deserve him...

If B.C. by-election is a harbinger of things to come, then the Liberals and NDP had better watch outThe Green victory in Nanaimo-Ladysmith came at the expense of other centre-left parties, which suffered a grim night: the NDP lost a seat and the Liberal vote dropped by half globepolitics NDP are the big losers, sign of things to come in October. With about 1/2 the number of votes cast compared to 2016 it’s hard to see this as an endorsement of the Green Party. The good news, the environment is clearly the issue Canadians want to talk about. Suck on that CPC! globepolitics Articles like this make me question the value in punditry. Not that the argument is without merit, but this analysis is hasty, cherry-picked, and ultimately speculative. Maybe could opt for thoughtful data journalism and less rich, old, white guys with opinions. globepolitics A vote for the environment but also a clear forewarning that Canadians are sick and tired of all three of the 'traditional' parties' BS. liberal_party CPC_HQ NDP CanadianGreens

The results of the next federal election—if electoral reform had happened - Macleans.caPhilippe J. Fournier: A new 338 Canada projection shows that under a proportional representation system, the Greens and NDP would take a combined 90 seats Combined, they can’t form government! Lol!
