Report says those hardest hit by the pandemic-induced shutdown are likely to be younger, poorer and less able to withstand the financial hit.

The analysis from Melbourne University's Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia Survey suggests 28 per cent of the nation's workforce, or about 3.5 million workers, worked in industries where businesses were forced to close, like hospitality, aviation and the arts, or those that experienced steep declines in turnover, including the real estate, apparel and automotive sectors.

Last Friday, Treasury revealed a "significant error" in its estimates meant JobKeeper would be paid to only 3.5 million people instead of 6.5 million and cost $70 billion over a six-month period, representing a $60 billion saving that the Labor opposition has argued should be used to include short-term casuals in the scheme.extend support for badly-affected industriesOf the total group of workers in industries worst-affected by measures designed to slow the spread of COVID-19, 48.

Almost 50 per cent of workers who are most vulnerable to the downturn rent compared with less than 30 per cent of the rest of the workforce.

Who could get the missing $60 billionThe massively under-spent JobKeeper scheme won’t be expanded to workers who missed out, but it could be extended beyond six months for the battered tourism sector. It hasn't been 'left over' it was never in the bank in the first place, it was a 'budget calculation' for Jobkeeper and they screwed up. Left over Jesus politicians. Just don’t use it you idiots

Underspent JobKeeper won't be expanded, but tourism sector could get further supportThe treasurer has hinted there might be more support for the tourism sector after a $60 billion accounting error in JobKeeper payments was uncovered. Only where it goes to the pockets of their political donors. Politics is broken and full of corruption. In business, we would call the ones who held back budget after a cut, falsely claiming it was spent, the sandbaggers. At bonus time, they would miraculously deliver their targets, through some dodgy redistribution of money. They always got sacked. Its an old trick, Scott, Josh Over-budgeting?. Brilliant. Can you just imagine a Labor doing this?. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Why JobKeeper won’t stop you from getting the sackIt’s meant to be the lifeline to workers during the pandemic. But now the Treasurer has admitted Aussies could still get the sack when the payments run out. What should we do differently? Isn't this obvious? Of course once the payments run out people could be sacked. Employers can't pay peoole if they have no money themselves 🤦‍♂️ Uh duuuuuuhhhhhh...
