Public transport is suspended in central Melbourne as police attempt to disrupt planned anti-lockdown protests.

Up to five adults from two households who have been fully vaccinated are now allowed to meet for a picnic or another outdoor social activity.

Head of Transport Services Nick Foa said a "limited, last-resort, safety-net bus service" stopping near Flagstaff Station and Jolimont Station would also only be available for essential workers."You will meet police at roadblocks, at checkpoints. They will turn you around and you will face a hefty fine."

"The shuttle buses they're putting on won't stop at intermediate points along the route to the city, so there's going to be lots of areas in inner suburban Melbourne and around the CBD that will just have no transport options."COVID-19 testing sites on Bourke and Russell streets will be closed for the day.

The 5k fine that gets withdrawn if you appeal in court? That 5k fine?!?

Instead of fines, Protestors should be slapped with a week of community service in hospital Covid wards! Let's see how many stand on their legs! Since covid19 is not a risk for COVIDIOTS, then they shouldn't have any issues, right?

No worries - might head to regional Victoria then

When will these ppl learn? They put lives at risk. selfish lockdownmelbourne First world whiners. Imagine if they lived in a war zone?

Yesterday DanielAndrewsMP band crib sheds forcing construction workers into the street while the very next day there is a protest that the government deemed so bad that they are willing to stop public transport. What could possibly go wrong

Are they the same fines as those dudes having picnics on the tram tracks yesterday… the ones “protesting” and being in groups of more than “5” etc. Asking for a friend.

Any fines for the tradies who protested yesterday I wonder....

The cops should not tolerate the abuse and violence they copped the last time the far right crims unleashed on them - go hard or go home.
