Zac Stubblety-Cook has claimed Australia’s fifth gold medal of the pool after a sensational victory in the 200m breaststroke in Olympic record time, while Kyle Chalmers has finished second by 0.06 seconds in a heavyweight 100m freestyle final.

Stubblety-Cook touched the wall first in his heat and semi-final of the 200m breaststroke, a month after posting the second-fastest time in history at the Australian trials . Stubblety-Cook finished fourth at the 2019 World Championship in the 200m breaststroke but has now become the first Australian to win the event since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.Meanwhile, Chalmers has added a silver medal to his gold in Rio after a thrilling final in the two-lap dash.

Meanwhile, Emma McKeon once again showed why she is the favourite in the women’s 100 freestyle final after winning her semi-final.
